Free storytime sessions for under 5s and rhymetime sessions for babies, toddlers and their families take place at libraries across the borough every week. Rhymetimes are song and rhyme sessions for babies, toddlers and their caregivers. Sessions last half an hour and include all kinds of nursery rhymes and songs. There is no need to book and entry is free but people are encouraged to arrive early. Visit www.reading.gov.uk/rhymetimes for more information. There are 18 rhymetimes held across Reading every week, throughout the year – including during the holidays - and 4 storytimes a week during term time (with 3 during the holidays). Over 32,700 children have attended Reading Libraries children’s events from April 2017 to April 2018.Cllr Sarah Hacker, Reading’s Lead Member for Culture, Heritage and Recreation, said:
“The rhymetime sessions offered by Reading’s libraries are extremely popular with families and I’m delighted we are able to offer this special theatre edition with Teddies Music Club. “We’ve already had two extremely well attended special rhymetime sessions this year in Caversham Court Gardens and in the Abbey Ruins. The Pirate Pete and the Princess show at the Hexagon, thanks to generous Arts Council funding, is a fantastic opportunity to introduce little ones to their first theatrical experience, singing the familiar songs they know and love from the weekly rhymetimes. I’d encourage families to book their tickets now.”Ends
