The Maples Valentine’s Day Tea Dance

THE MAPLES is hosting a Valentine’s Tea Dance for older people this February.

The social event is open to everyone over 50 and takes place on Wednesday 14th February, from 1:30-3:30pm at Rivermead Leisure Centre in the Thames Suite. People can look forward to refreshments and a prize draw. There will be live music with opportunities to get up and dance or just relax and chat to friends. All the proceeds from the event will go to the Maples Amenity Fund which allows the centre to provide additional trips and activities alongside their regular programme. The cost is £5 per person which includes the refreshments. The event is being hosted with the support of Rivermead leisure centre operator GLL (Greenwich Leisure Ltd), who are providing the venue and with sponsorship from Tescos for the refreshments and raffle prizes. The tea dance, which is also dementia friendly, supports the Council’s Health & Wellbeing Strategy priority to make Reading a place where people can live well with dementia.

Lead Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Rachel Eden said:

“Following the successful festive tea dance in December, it's brilliant to have another opportunity for people to enjoy dancing. The Council is committed to ensuring we can all live fulfilling and active lives, regardless of our age. Not only does dancing help to keep us physically fit and healthy, whatever our age, but it’s also a great excuse to socialise. I'd encourage everyone to come along.” To find out more and to book a place, contact Sarah Hunneman at Sarah.Hunneman@reading.gov.uk or call on 07580 870945
