FAMILIES in Reading are invited to come along to a special Rhymetime in the Abbey Ruins this month.

Staff from Reading Libraries and the ever popular Teddies Music Club, are hosting the special Rhymetime in the newly opened Abbey Ruins, on Friday July 27th, between 10am and 12pm, with singing starting at 10.30am. The Teddies will be singing songs from their new show ‘Pirate Pete and the Princess’ My First Theatre Experience, which launches at the Hexagon on 25th October. As well as singing popular rhymes, there will be information stalls available from the Family Information Service and New Directions. The Abbey Ruins site can be accessed via either the gates at Chestnut Walk or by underpass from the Forbury Gardens. There is no admission charge or need to book, just drop by - everyone is welcome.

Cllr Sarah Hacker, Lead Member for Culture, Heritage and Recreation, said:

“I’m delighted we are now able to host our first Rhymetime in the Abbey Ruins. It’s a great opportunity for Reading’s children to enjoy the ever popular free singing sessions in the amazing backdrop of such a historic site. Why not enjoy the day by bringing a rug and having a picnic too.” Find out more at www.reading.gov.uk/article/11620/Rhymetime-in-the-Ruins
