Time to Get in Tune with Let’s Sing 2019

A SINGING competition for choirs of all ages in the greater Reading area is now open for entries.

The Mayor of Reading’s ‘Let’s Sing’ contest showcases local amateur choirs with the finalists given the chance to perform on the stage of The Hexagon theatre. This year’s competition will be divided into the three categories of Junior Choirs (under 12s), Youth Choirs (under 18s) and Community Choirs with the final taking place in March 2019. Choirs can enter Let’s Sing by completing the online form at www.reading.gov.uk/letssing and including a link to a video of the choir performing a song, either on YouTube or Facebook. Alternatively, a CD or MP3 of a performance can be sent to: The Mayor’s Parlour, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading, RG1 2LU. A panel of judges, including Reading Mayor Cllr Debs Edwards, will select up to six entrants from each category to take part in the final in front of an audience at The Hexagon on 6th March 2019. A winner will be selected from each category and an overall winner will be chosen and presented with a special Let’s Sing trophy by the Mayor.

Reading Mayor Cllr Debs Edwards said:

“I’m delighted to be launching the sixth Let’s Sing competition where choirs from across the borough get the opportunity to show off their talent. “I would encourage local amateur choirs to come forward and take part in this competition which is one of the highlights of the Mayor’s events calendar. “Finalists get to perform to an audience at The Hexagon and proceeds from the ticket sales go to my chosen charities of the year.” Visit www.reading.gov.uk/letssing for more information and to apply. The deadline for entries is Monday 4th February 2019.
