South Reading Tennis Courts get a New Lease of Life

Tennis courts before and after

TENNIS fans in south Reading can enjoy a game on four revamped courts this week, just in time for the start of Wimbledon.

The courts, located next to South Reading Leisure Centre, have a new lease of life after an £11K investment. This month the courts have been repainted in a striking purple and green as well as new nets and posts installed. Earlier this year all the existing worn out fixings were removed and replaced and the area pressure washed.

Cllr Graeme Hoskin, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Health, Wellbeing and Sport, said:

“The provision of good facilities is vital in ensuring participation in sport and physical activity. Through the revamp of these tennis courts, just in time for the start of Wimbledon, we hope people will be inspired to go and have a game. We hope to see an increase in participation in sport, and this is a further step towards delivering a better quality of life for the residents of Reading.” Funding for this project has come from developer contributions from nearby housing schemes, secured via contributions from developers.
