Reading VE Day Civic Commemoration Service

  • Members of the public are invited to a special service to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day at the Reading Minster, 8 May, 7pm.

A civic commemoration service is being held in Reading to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day on Thursday 8 May, 7pm.

Members of the public are invited to join the Mayor of Reading, Cllr Glenn Dennis, at the service at the Reading Minster, St Mary’s Butts.

The special service will offer a time of reflection and remembrance to mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe and to honour those who sacrificed their lives.

The service will be followed by a reception with the Mayor where light refreshments will be served.

Mayor of Reading, Cllr Glenn Dennis, said:

“This special service will be an opportunity to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served during the Second World War and to remember those who gave their lives for peace and freedom.
