Reading Choirs, Musicians and Singers Invited to Raise Their Voices for Virtual Let’s Sing 2021

  • Mayor’s annual singing competition moves online for 2021
  • For the first time, extended to the talent competition is all musicians and singers

SINGERS from across Reading are invited to send their entries in for the Mayor’s annual singing competition, which for the first time will be hosted virtually.

The Mayor of Reading’s yearly Choir Competition will be held online for the first time this year due to Covid-19.

For the first time, the competition is inviting applications from all local musicians and singers.

The contest is divided into four categories, Under 12, 12-18, Over 18s and groups.
The winners in each category will receive a trophy and a performance slot at one of Reading Borough Council’s summer events. *

The competition will screened via What’s On Reading on 30th April, and tickets will be available to purchase at www.reading.gov.uk/starsearch. All shortlisted performers will receive a free ticket to the evening.

Cllr David Stevens, Mayor of Reading, said:

“The annual choir competition is a real highlight in the mayoral calendar. I’m delighted we’re still able to hold this year’s contest, albeit virtually, and to be opening applications to all kinds of musicians. I know there is a wealth of talent across Reading and I’m really excited to see who makes the final performance!

“I’d encourage everyone to apply, whether you play an instrument, perform with a choir or are a soloist - if its musical, we want to hear from you!”

The panel of judges led by The Mayor of Reading will be giving feedback on shortlisted entries, and winners will be revealed live at the event on 30th April.

To enter, complete the online form, or for more information, visit the event’s webpage at www.reading.gov.uk/starsearch.

Closing date for entries is 12th April 2021.
