Reading Celebrates Older People's Day 2023 Ageing Well Together
Reading will again be celebrating and highlighting the contribution older people make to the community with a free fun packed event at Broad Street Mall, on Monday 2 October 9.30am until 3pm.
The event promises a range of engaging activities that reflect this year's theme, Ageing Well Together.
Residents can enjoy activities such as bowling, singing, a first aid/CPR demonstration and taster session, Terry's Reading Walkabouts, and discussions on better mental health in older life.
There will also be opportunities for mini-health checks and blood pressure screenings to promote well-being among attendees. Cllr Tony Page, the Mayor of Reading will officially open the event at 10am.
Lead Councillor for Adult Social Care, Cllr Paul Gittings said, "Older People's Day is an opportunity to celebrate later life and the huge contribution older people make to our communities. This wonderful free event on Monday 2 October aims to celebrate these achievements and I’d encourage older residents and their families to come along to what will be a vibrant event and discover the wealth of local services available to support and enhance their lives and help you look forward to the future."
A diverse group of voluntary sector partners and services will also be at the event, offering valuable information and resources to support older members of the community.
