Reading Borough Council Tenants Recognised for their Hard Work at Awards Ceremony

RESIDENTS who volunteer their time to represent the interests of fellow council tenants were recognised at a special award ceremony.

Reading Borough Council hosted the event at the Civic Offices on 12th February to celebrate the hard work carried out by tenants who scrutinise, challenge and monitor the service the council delivers as a landlord, and those who volunteer to improve their local neighbourhoods. Councillor John Ennis, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Housing, presented the awards. The tenants were nominated for a variety of awards including Active Tenant Involvement, Most Improved Estate/Community and Most Helpful Tenant. A Partnership award was presented to Wokingham Borough Council’s involved tenants for sharing ideas about how both councils can improve their housing services, and for their scrutiny work on Reading and Wokingham’s joint Housing Repairs service.

Cllr Ennis said:

“The annual awards ceremony is a great way of celebrating the work of residents who give up their time to ensure the voice of council tenants is heard. “Reading Borough Council strives to be an excellent landlord and these tenants help us ensure we are delivering the best possible service.”
