Prospect Park Car Park approved for Mobile Testing Unit during October

Reading Borough Council has received approval for a new Covid-19 Mobile Testing Unit (MTU) at Prospect Park. The site will host a Mobile Testing Unit on six dates during October. The Department of Health and Social Care recently approved Prospect Park Car Park, Liebenrood Road for a Mobile Testing Unit. The MTU will be present in the car park on 1st, 2nd, 8th, 19th, 29th and 30th October for pre-booked testing only, those turning up without an appointment will not be tested. Mobile Testing Units travel around the UK to increase access to coronavirus testing, appointments must be booked in advance through the national booking system. If you have coronavirus symptoms pre-book a test appointment in advance through the government website, or via the NHS COVID-19 app, or by calling 119. Cllr Graeme Hoskin, Reading’s Lead Member for Health, said "I am delighted that we’ve secured a new Mobile Testing site at Prospect Park in Reading which is a positive step towards keeping Covid under control in Reading and preventing a local outbreak. I’d like to remind residents that there are a number of things we must all continue to do to prevent a local outbreak. If you have coronavirus symptoms – a new continuous cough, a temperature or loss of taste or smell – then please get a test. You should also wash your hands, cover your face and make space for others. These simple measures will help control infection rates and prevent a local outbreak."
