New Berkshire Prosperity Board Website Launched

  • New website allows residents to follow the work of the Berkshire Prosperity Board
  • Board aims to drive economic prosperity across the region, securing more funding, creating more jobs and more affordable housing

Berkshire residents, businesses and other key stakeholders will more easily be able to follow and engage with the work of the Berkshire Prosperity Board following the launch of its new website.

The Berkshire Prosperity Board aims to drive and deliver economic prosperity across Berkshire with the aim of securing more funding, creating more jobs and enabling more affordable housing for residents.

It brings together the six councils in Berkshire who have been working together and have so far delivered:

  • 17,251 energy efficiency initiatives
  • A Berkshire Electric Vehicle Programme
  • 116 people supported into the work place through the Connect to Work programme
  • The Berkshire Local Natural Recovery Strategy
  • 152 business support sessions

The website promotes the work of the Board and aims to raise awareness of how Berkshire Leaders and councils are working collaboratively to achieve greater outcomes for everyone who lives and works in Berkshire.

Managed by West Berkshire Council on behalf of all six Berkshire councils, the site provides an overview of how the Board's work across key areas of focus is improving outcomes for residents and businesses across Berkshire. The areas of focus are: health and inequalities; skills and education; affordable housing; sector development; strategic infrastructure; and net zero. There is also a section on the work to promote tourism in the county.

https://www.berkshireprosperity.co.uk/ provides information on the ongoing work and membership of the Berkshire Business Board, which was created to help drive economic growth in the county and better support our local economies for the benefit of residents and business.

It will additionally provide access to all documents relating to the Berkshire Prosperity Board. This includes meetings, decision-making, grant applications and county-wide success stories.

Councillor Jeff Brooks, Leader of West Berkshire Council, said:

"I am delighted that West Berkshire was able to create this platform for the whole of Berkshire to take advantage of. The new site will shine a light on the important work being undertaken by councillors and officers, across all six councils, to improve outcomes for residents, businesses and other key stakeholders. It will be continuously updated as work progresses and as we continue to work towards building on Berkshire's economic success. This has been a great example of collaboration across the county with colleagues from Reading, working closely with West Berkshire colleagues to create the website with input from the other four councils."

The day to work to keep the website updated will jointly be carried out by West Berkshire and Reading Borough Councils, on behalf of the six Berkshire councils who are members of the Board.

Berkshire has played a hugely significant role in driving the UK economy in recent decades. It has great connectivity and is home to the UK's Silicon Valley, as well as many innovative and international businesses, and has a highly skilled workforce.

Working together on shared challenges and opportunities provides a more powerful voice than each Council would have individually, helping to effectively engage Government, secure more funding from both public and private investors, and to be an attractive location for inward investment.

The website was approved at the Berkshire Prosperity Board on Monday 21st September 2026.
