Mikron Theatre Company returns this summer for Caversham Court Gardens performance

  • Mikron Theatre will stage 'Raising Agents' in Caversham Court on 19 July
  • Attendance is free, but a collection of ‘pay what you feel’ donations will be taken after the show

READING residents have another reason to look forward to the long summer evenings, with the return of the Mikron Theatre Company to Caversham Court Gardens on Tuesday 19 July.

The Mikron Theatre Company have been touring Britain on their narrow boat, Tyseley, in the summer, and on the road in the spring and autumn for 50 years, having written 66 original shows, and performed over 5,200 times.

‘Raising Agents’, written by Maeve Larkin and directed by Rachel Gee, celebrates 100 years of the Women’s Institute, telling the tale of the down-at-the-heel Bunnington WI, in Yorkshire. With memberships dwindling, it means they can barely afford the hall, let alone a decent speaker. So, when a PR guru becomes a member, the women are glad of new blood.

Cllr Adele Barnett-Ward, Reading Borough Council’s Lead Councillor for Leisure and Culture, said:

“This is another brilliant addition to the already busy summer schedule of events in Reading. I’m delighted to welcome back Mikron Theatre Company to Caversham Court.

"The performance is a great opportunity for residents to see the work of a unique and versatile troupe right on their doorsteps!”

Join Mikron on 19 July from 7pm in Caversham Court Gardens, RG4 7AD. Attendance is free, but a collection of ‘pay what you feel’ donations will be taken after the show. Theatregoers are invited to bring a picnic, chairs, and blankets to enjoy with the show.
