Last Call for Choirs to Enter Let’s Sing 2019

LOCAL Choirs have just a few days left to submit their entries for the 2019 Mayor of Reading’s Let’s Sing competition.

The annual singing contest showcases local amateur choirs from the greater Reading area with the finalists given a chance to perform on the stage of The Hexagon theatre. Choirs have until Monday 4th February to send in their applications to be in with a chance of competing in the final in March. The annual competition is divided into the three categories of Junior Choirs (under 12s), Youth Choirs (under 18s) and Community Choirs. Entries can be sent in using the online form at www.reading.gov.uk/letssing with a link to a video of the choir performing a song, either on YouTube or Facebook. Alternatively, a CD or MP3 of a performance can be sent to: The Mayor’s Parlour, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading, RG1 2LU. A panel of judges, including Reading Mayor Cllr Debs Edwards, will select up to six entrants from each category to take part in the final in front of an audience at The Hexagon on Wednesday 6th March. A winner will be selected from each category and an overall winner will be presented with the Let’s Sing trophy.

Reading Mayor Cllr Debs Edwards said:

“I am very excited about this year’s Let’s Sing competition and cannot wait for the big live final at The Hexagon. “We want to showcase as much Reading talent as possible so I would urge any choirs who have not yet entered to do so before the 4th February deadline. “The live final is a magnificent night of entertainment and proceeds from ticket sales will go to my chosen charities of the year.” Visit www.reading.gov.uk/letssing for more information about the contest and to apply. Tickets for the Let’s Sing final, at 6.30pm on Wednesday 6th March, are priced at £9.50/ concessions £4.50 or £20 family ticket and are available at www.readingarts.com, by calling (0118) 960 6060 or from the Box Office at The Hexagon.
