- Advice available on the night about the future of the private rented sector
- Event hosted by the Council's Rent Guarantee Scheme and NRLA
Property landlords from across Reading are being invited to attend a valuable free Landlord Information Evening at the Civic Centre on Thursday 15 October 2026.
The event is hosted by the Council’s Rent Guarantee Scheme, in partnership with the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA).
NRLA Public Affairs Officer Joshua Helm-Cowley is the guest speaker at the evening where he will be updating attendees around ongoing legislative changes and current NRLA campaigns, and discussing the future of the private rented sector.
Following the main presentation and Q&A session, there will be a choice of seminar-style presentations, including Tax for Landlords, Tackling Damp & Mould in Rented Property, Serving Notices and Rent Increases and local Licensing Requirements.
Guests will have the opportunity to browse stalls offered by local businesses and speak to a variety of teams from Reading Borough Council to hear about how the Council works in partnership with the private sector in providing homes for Reading residents, with lots of opportunities for networking.
The event will be opened by Matt Yeo, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Housing, who said:
“We work really closely with Reading’s landlords, and this event is a great way to ensure those with properties to rent in Reading can gain valuable updates and insights that they may not necessarily be aware of, but which could directly affect their businesses. They will also be able to learn more about our Rent Guarantee Scheme and the benefits it offers, as well as all the valuable help and support that our other Council teams can offer to help them manage their properties better for tenants to make private renting better for everyone.
“Lots of hard work is going on within the Council on our programme of building hundreds of quality, affordable new homes for residents on our housing register, but it is also vitally important that we take a leading role in ensuring that there are opportunities for residents in the private rental sector, and that we drive standards up in this area to provide the high quality housing that everyone deserves.”
“We look forward to meeting as many landlords as possible on Thursday 15 October.”
The Landlord Information Evening will open at 5.45pm with presentations starting at 6.30pm.
