Here Comes Summer with Live Music in The Forbury

FIFTEEN bands will be providing the sounds of summer to visitors to Forbury Gardens over the next three months.

Forbury Band Concert Season gets under way this Sunday (3rd June) and will provide entertainment on lazy sunny afternoons through to September. The free concerts by a variety of local performers take place between 3pm and 4.30pm every Sunday through the summer months. Reading-based ukulele band Small Strings kick off the season on 3rd June followed by the vibrant sound of RASPO Steel Orchestra on 10th June. Other highlights will include Woodley Concert Band, Reading Community Gospel Choir, Saxophony and African drumming from Reading-based Tankata Percussion.

Cllr Sarah Hacker, Lead Councillor for Culture, Heritage & Recreation, said:

“The start of the Forbury Band Concert Season is a sure sign that summer is on its way. “Visitors to the Forbury Gardens can look forward to a wonderful variety of live music on Sunday afternoons over the next three months. “Deck chairs are available or you can take along a blanket, and maybe a picnic, and spend relaxing summer afternoons in our beautiful Victorian gardens in the centre of Reading.”
