Help Plan Future Childcare Provision in Reading and Win

PARENTS and carers are being encouraged to take part in an annual survey into childcare provision in Reading.

The Childcare Survey is carried out every year to gauge the views of users about issues such as current availability and whether more provision is required. Results from the survey will help the Council produce a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment and shape future childcare provision in the borough. The report will give a comprehensive picture of the childcare market in Reading and look at the impact of the extended 30-hours free childcare scheme locally. Childcare can take many forms, such as nurseries, pre-schools, after-school clubs and childminders and this survey covers all areas. Everyone who completes the questionnaire will be offered the chance to enter a free prize draw to win £100 of vouchers for The Oracle shopping and leisure complex.

Cllr Tony Jones, Lead Councillor for Education, said:

“We are asking parents and carers in Reading whether they use childcare, what they think about it and whether they would like to use more. “We are really keen to hear people’s views as they form an essential part of our annual Childcare Sufficiency Assessment for 2018 which helps us plan ahead.” The Reading Childcare survey can now be completed at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/K7STQ82 and the closing date for responses is 30th April 2018. All responses will be treated in absolute confidence and will only be used to inform this work to assess childcare provision in Reading.
