Dr Bike summer roadshow around Reading

Dr Bike is touring around Reading to give people the opportunity to drop by with their cycles for a free check-up close to home.
The community sessions happening around Reading next week are ideal for families and young people wanting to use their bikes to get around Reading quickly and cheaply.
Experienced mechanics from Avanti Cycling will be on hand to carry out minor repairs to bicycles, provide safety tips and advice on looking after your bike.
The free sessions are part of the Council’s aim to encourage cycling and walking in the borough to help reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and benefit the health and wellbeing of Reading residents.
Visitors can also find out about free bike maintenance courses and adult cycle training sessions on offer around Reading.
The Dr Bike roadshow will be calling in at the following locations:
- Dee Space Community Centre – Tuesday 30 June, 4-6.30pm
- Coley Park Community Centre – Wednesday 1 July, 4-6.30pm
- Broad Street, outside Sainsbury’s, town centre – Thursday 2 July, 11am-2pm
- Hexham Road Community Centre – Thursday 2 July, 4-6.30pm
- Southcote Library – Friday 3 July, 4-6.30pm
Cllr John Ennis, Lead Councillor for Climate Strategy and Transport, said:
“Cycling is a great way of getting around Reading to work, school, appointments or for leisure but it is important that your bike is in good condition.
“The Dr Bike community sessions give families and young people the opportunity to speak to an experienced mechanic and have their bikes checked over for free, all on their doorstep.
“They can also find out about the free bike maintenance courses and adult cycling sessions held around the borough.”
Town centre Dr Bike sessions are normally held on the first Thursday of the month outside Sainsbury’s in Broad Street, 11am- 2.30pm.
