READING’S much-loved Children’s Festival is returning between 14 May and 5 June 2022.

To mark its 33rd birthday, families can look forward to three fun-packed weeks of events and activities across the borough, kicking off with the action-packed Forbury Fiesta on Saturday 14 May.

This year’s theme is a celebration of all things biscuit related as Huntley and Palmers, the world-renowned biscuit makers originally based in Reading marks its 200-year anniversary.

The festival is now welcoming applications from local groups, charities and businesses who would like to hold activities, workshops, open days and more across the two-week festival.

Alternatively, if you’d like to have a presence at this year’s Forbury Fiesta launch event, such as a fund fundraising stall or activity on the day, applications can be made here: www.reading.gov.uk/childrensfest

Cllr Karen Rowland, Lead Member for Culture, Heritage and Recreation, said:

“I’m delighted our fantastic Children’s Festival is returning for its 33rd year, and to be celebrating the 200th birthday of our famous Reading institution, Huntley and Palmers, with plenty of biscuit-themed fun. It is also a great build-up to all the exciting events and activities we are looking forward to as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“Our Children’s Festival is always maximum full-on fun for children and parents alike, and I’d encourage any local groups and organisations to apply for a space to shape this year’s exciting agenda, whether it’s fundraising or face-painting, we want to hear from you!”

The full diary of events and activities on offer across Children’s Festival 2022 will be available from April. For updates and announcements, follow the Children’s Festival Twitter and Facebook feed where you’ll be able to keep up to date.
